Toslink

Posted by 19 September, 2019 Comments Off on Toslink

Toslink (Toshiba-Link) was initially developed by Toshiba for its CD players. However, the use of this optical fiber connection system is currently not limited to CDs only but can be used to connect satellite dish receivers, DVD players and other equipment. It is a data transmission system that uses optical signals instead of the usual electrical signals thus its more reliable. Toslink has 4 major components: the transmission module that enables conversion of the electrical signals to optical signals. However, the receiving module reconverts the optical signals into electrical signals.

The other components are optical fiber cables that act like the physical transmission lines while the optical connectors enhance the connection of the receiving and transmission modules to the optical fiber cable.

Bayonet Neil Concelman Connector which is BNC is a company that came up with this appropriate technology. The Bayonet mechanism included the requirement of a pin on the male side in order to allow locking in the female side using a spring. With these two the components could not slide, unhook and slip. The BNC is very efficient and reliable when it comes to primary configurations and offering processing options of video transmissions. The available BNC connectors are also designed to handle SDI- HD, the connector can also work as a transmission handler for audio interface. The BNC is suitable compared to other cables. The performance of the BNC connector which is the transfer of frequency varies with the size.
