The antenna is held in place by a metal tower which ensures that receptivity of any communication is done clearly thus reducing distortion of the message. Amateur radio operators are the ordinary assignees to these sets and therefore comprehensive data maps are in order for their use of this equipment.

What is Mechanical Transfer Registered Jack (MTRJ)?

Posted by 20 May, 2019 (1) Comment

MTRJ is an abbreviation of Mechanical Transfer Registered Jack and refers to a connector used in fiber optic cables. This connector is small in size and this has made it very popular among users who have small form factor devices. It houses two fibers and joins locating pins that are found on the plug and can have about 12 fibers.

It is one of the recent connectors that are currently being used. It uses two fibers and which are incorporated into one design that is similar to the one used by the RJ45 connector. The alignment is done through the two pins that are connected to this connector. Unlike the single fiber connectors, the MTRJ has lower termination costs and more density for the cable management and electronics hardware.

Police Scanner Codes

Posted by 19 May, 2019 (1) Comment

Police scanner codes usually vary depending on the police department they are being used in. A majority of them are standard while some of them are specific. The police use these codes to communicate with one another during emergencies. The codes allow the police to report details of various situations that they encounter in a manner that is precise and fast.

SolarWinds Orion Network Performance Monitor Review

Posted by 20 May, 2012 Comments Off on SolarWinds Orion Network Performance Monitor Review

SolarWinds Orion Network Performance Monitor (NPM) is a powerful yet easy-to-use tool for detecting, diagnosing, and resolving network performance issues. The next time a user complains that “the network is slow”, you can have the tools to turn that uselessly vague complaint into actionable data.

NPM automatically discovers your network, creates network topology maps, and then provides you with real-time views into network performance.

NPM provides a centralized console to monitor performance statistics from network devices such as routers, switches, wireless access points, and servers.

In addition to the up/down status provided by ICMP pinging, SolarWinds NPM uses the industry-standard SNMP protocol to retrieve detailed network performance statistics from SNMP-enabled devices.

NPM doesn’t just wait for you to watch the screen either, it’s network alerting feature monitors the network 24 hours a day and alerts you when an issue needs your attention. It can even correlate multiple events to provide you with sophisticated root cause analysis. For example, if fifteen servers behind a switch suddenly disappear, NPM is smart enough to notify you not that 15 servers disappeared from the network — but that the switch in front of those servers failed.

To help with one of the most hated chores in IT, Network Performance Monitor even creates customizable reports for you to share with your boss. The next time a user complains about network speed, you can respond with a detailed PDF report confirming or denying their suspicion.

NPM took me less than an hour to setup. SolarWinds even offers a 30-day free trial to try NPM before you buy it.

You can find more tools like NPM at this excellent web site.
