logo_instaphoneIslamabad High Court (IHC) puts away the petition files by Pakcom’s Instaphone again Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) regarding unsettled dues. The petition was filed again the Mobile Cellular Policy of the Federal Government. PTA has also instructed Instaphone to pay all its dues by May 21, 2008 and failure to do so will lead to termination of license.

Instaphone is the pioneer of Mobile services in Pakistan but failed to adopt the new technology. Still its has a customer base of 250,123 (according to PTA March 2009 data) users but they are not doing anything to grow it. If you look at their website, you will notice that it has not being updated since 2005.

In my honest opinion, PTA should terminate their license and let a new company with GSM technology come into the market. Yes, I know we have already five GSM Service Providers and we may not need another but what bad in expanding the market.
