MTRJ is an abbreviation of Mechanical Transfer Registered Jack and refers to a connector used in fiber optic cables. This connector is small in size and this has made it very popular among users who have small form factor devices. It houses two fibers and joins locating pins that are found on the plug and can have about 12 fibers.

It is one of the recent connectors that are currently being used. It uses two fibers and which are incorporated into one design that is similar to the one used by the RJ45 connector. The alignment is done through the two pins that are connected to this connector. Unlike the single fiber connectors, the MTRJ has lower termination costs and more density for the cable management and electronics hardware.
